Valentine’s Day…or Girl Time

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

It’s Valentine’s Day.  It tends to be a holiday you either love or hate here in the US.  Although Valentine’s Day is not a traditional holiday in Spain, it is celebrated.  It is the day of love but friends and family are also included, not just lovers.  Celebrations tend to be less showy and flamboyant than they are here in the US but if you’re single there still is the feeling of wanting the day to pass as quickly as possible.

With that being said, we understand the dread that many single women tend to feel on this day.  Many women would rather pretend it didn’t exist or wish for it to be over as quickly as possible.  We think that Valentine’s Day could actually be kind of fun, depending on how you look at it.  Though I am no longer single, I have had my share of Valentine’s Days wishing they would just be over but I have also had a lot of fun Valentine’s Day with my girlfriends.  There was one year where a few of us lovely ladies made a dinner of heart shaped ravioli–no boyfriends or husbands necessary.  Another year, a bunch of us girlfriends decided that cocktails were in order.  What I am saying is that regardless of your dating status, it doesn’t mean you should not enjoy this day.  Here are some ideas for spending Valentine’s Day with your favorite ladies….

1.  Girl Time

Why not plan a date of your own?  If it’s yoga you and your girlfriends enjoy, then why not plan on going to a class together?  Or, sign up for a class you have been dying to try.   Cooking, dancing, manicure/pedicure, it’s up to you.

2.  Cocktails

Why not get out and have a cocktail or two with your girlfriends…a little bubbly is always a fun way to celebrate any occasion.

3.  House Party

A girl has to have her dinner regardless of what day it is, so another way to celebrate your loved ones and yourself is to plan a dinner together.  Each one of your guests can bring a favorite dish, dessert or wine and then enjoy the feast.

4.  Escape

Who says Valentine’s Day weekend needs to be for lovers only?  Plan an escape with your favorite girlfriends.  You don’t have to go far, the idea is just to get away and enjoy.

If far sounds more appealing, you could always start planning for next year….Curated Escapes would be more than happy to host you and your girlfriends.  Whatever you end up doing, just try to make the most of it…it will be over soon enough.  Happy Valentine’s Day!!!!
