New Year´s Eve in Spain Adventure

Ladies with new year party kits

Happy New Year to everyone!

We were so lucky to host some lovely ladies on our Barcelona New Year´s Eve tour.  We spent the week showing these women travelers the ins and outs of Barcelona as well as some spots outside the city such as taking a break from the city to show our ladies Penedes and Sitges.  In Barcelona we spent some time in the Born neighborhood, the perfect place for a stroll and to do some shopping at the local independent designer boutiques.

The ladies got to experience the amazing design and architecture from the famous architect, Antoni Gaudi.   We climbed up the towers of the Sagrada Familia where the views of the city were quite incredible.  We went round and round the rooftop at La Pedrera and walked around the bright and airy Casa Batllo, inspired by sea life.

Our first day trip with the ladies was to the Penedes region.  In Penedes we got to have one of the tasty cafe con leche that Spain is known for.  In Penedes we experienced the quaint winery of Jean Leon.

We welcomed the new year at La Barceloneta at a lovely restaurant, Agua.  Here we dined on seafood, fish and other tasty treats.  We were each given a 2014 party kit or cotillon which included a lea, streamers, horns, balloons and other fun items to celebrate the new year.  At the strike of midnight we each quickly ate our 12 grapes, a Spanish tradition, to bring us all good fortune in the new year.  We couldn´t let the new year start without a little dance party and our young German neighbor got the party started.

We spent a lazy New Year´s Day at Sitges, a coastal town, where we enjoyed some more seafood, sunshine and smiles.

La Boqueria market was a crowd pleaser as the ladies went back to get their fill of Spanish olive oil, turron and other Spanish treats to bring back to the US.  Overall, the trip was enjoyed by all.  Many of the ladies are already thinking of when to plan their next travel adventure with us.
